This page explain how to add your BLE nodes virtually inside the Indoor Tracking Dashboard and physically in your environment.
Install the BLE nodes
Here the steps:
- access the Indoor Tracking Dashboard at this page and follow the instructions on the login screen. Please supply the credentials and press the Login to dashboard button.
- select BT Beacon Tracker > Nodes.
- If you have uploaded a floor plan image then you can enable it by clicking on the Floor plan button in the top left corner of the map (it might take a few seconds to see the floor plan if the image is large).
- zoom on the map as much as possible and click on the first location in which you want to place the first virtual BLE node.
- Enter its MAC address and optionally a name and a description that will make it easier to identify the node itself.
- The MAC address is printed on a label on the bottom of each node.
- Click on Save.
- If you see an Error message it means that the node is inside another Accuware site. Please contact us and provide the MAC address so we can remove it from the other site.
- If you need to adjust the virtual location of the BLE node you can just click on it and drag it in the correct location.
- Enter its MAC address and optionally a name and a description that will make it easier to identify the node itself.
- place physically in your environment the BLE node just added into the Indoor Tracking Dashboard (keep in mind the the information inside this page).
- The node positions, set using the Indoor Tracking Dashboard, are used to resolve the location of the BLE beacons and this is why it is mandatory to have a match between the virtual locations of the BLE nodes inside and their real locations. Anyway small inaccuracies (of no more than 0.5 meters) between the real and the virtual locations are acceptable.
Repeat the Step 3 and 4 for all the nodes.
Verify the reporting status
Once the BLE nodes have been added to the Indoor Tracking Dashboard to check the status of the nodes:
- Click on the BT Beacon Tracker > Map.
- Turn ON one of the BLE beacons (previously configured with the parameters described inside this page).
- Verify that all the nodes are active (green). The green color indicates that the nodes are reporting data to the Indoor Tracking server.
About BLE nodes V1 behavior
Please be aware that:
- BLE nodes V1 running a firmware equal or lower than version 0.10 will be shown RED inside the Indoor Tracking Dashboard if no BLE beacons will be in range. As soon as a BLE beacon will be in range the BLE nodes will be shown GREEN inside the Indoor Tracking Dashboard.
- BLE nodes V1 running a firmware greater than version 0.10 will be shown GREEN inside the Indoor Tracking Dashboard even if no BLE beacons will be in range.
You can upgrade the firmware of your BLE nodes from the SETUP page of the node following these steps:
- Select “On – Auto update the firmware“.
- Click on Submit and wait for the page to refresh
- Click on Restart device.
