How it Works.

Bluetooth Nodes Track The Location Of Small Bluetooth Tags

Bluetooth Beacon Tracker works by using BLE nodes to detect active BLE beacons in a monitored venue.

BLE nodes are small hardware devices that are deployed throughout the venue, typically attached to walls or ceilings. These nodes periodically scan for BLE beacon signals and upload a list of the detected beacon identifiers and signal strengths to a cloud-based server.

The server then estimates the beacons' locations based on the uploaded data, using a variety of algorithms and techniques to triangulate the position of each beacon.

This location data is then made available to applications through an API. Applications can query the server to obtain the location of specific beacons, allowing businesses to track the movements of people or assets within the monitored venue. The server also provides real-time aggregate analytics, which can be used to gain insights into customer behavior and movement patterns.

The server uses advanced algorithms to detect individuals in the video stream and estimate their locations in the site over time.

Getting Started

To get started with Bluoetooth Beacon Tracker, you need to prepare your environment to make it location-aware.

The first step to getting started with the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker is to estimate the number of BLE nodes required for your venue. This will depend on factors such as the size and layout of the venue, the number of floors, precision required. We provide guidance on estimating the number of nodes required based on the specific requirements of the venue, and we can prepare the ideal deployment model for you.

Once you have estimated the number of nodes required, you can order the necessary BLE nodes from us and plug them into regular power outlets throughout the venue. The nodes are small and unobtrusive, and can be easily attached to walls or ceilings. To provide the BLE nodes with internet connectivity, you will need to connect them to a local Wi-Fi system. This can be done by logging into each node and configuring it to connect to the local Wi-Fi network. Alternatively, the nodes have a PPoE port so that you can provide connectivity through an Ethernet cable.

To provide a visual representation of your venue, you can upload floor plans or maps for every level. These maps can be used to visualize the location of beacons and provide real-time tracking information. You can upload your floor plans through our Admin Dashboard. You can define the various levels of your venue, such as the different floors of a building. This allows the system to differentiate between beacons located on different floors and provide accurate location data.

From our dashboard you should pin the real location of each node on the floor plans, so that you can geo-reference their position and let the indoor triangulation system perform its calculations.

You will need to tag assets and people with BLE tags. These tags are small, wireless devices that broadcast signals that can be detected by nearby node. These tags can be carried by people or attached to assets and are used with the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker to track their real time location.

Once these steps are complete, the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker system is ready to use, with no additional software installation required. You can start tracking the movements of BLE tags, creating geo-fences, and generating heat maps and spaghetti diagrams to gain valuable insights into customer behavior and movement patterns.

License and Pricing

Bluetooth Beacon Tracker offers two licensing options:
A subscription to a public cloud-based service or a standalone installation.

Subscription to our cloud-based service

Under this option, businesses can subscribe to our cloud-based service for a recurring annual fee based on the number of BLE nodes used. The fee includes access to the cloud.

For this type of installation, considering the amount of technical support that is always required to customize and optimize each deployment, we have a minimum engagement level of $9,000 in fees, for this technology.

Standalone installation

With this option, you can install Bluetooth Beacon Tracker on your own server (on-premise or cloud) and manage it. This option is ideal for businesses that want complete control over their indoor tracking and positioning system without sharing data with our cloud server.

Pricing for this option is based on the number of nodes used (which is always a function of the dimensions of the environment to monitor).

This type of installation requires intensive development efforts and R&D to customize the server and software: For this reason,we set a minimum engagement level of $29,000 in fees for this option.

In both cases, businesses can order the necessary BLE nodes and BLE tags directly from us. The pricing for these devices varies depending on the model, the quantity ordered and other factors. BLE Nodes’ pricing starts at 35 USD/each, while BLE Tags range between 10 USD and 95 USD per unit.

We strive to make our pricing transparent and easy to understand, and we are committed to working with businesses to find a solution that meets their needs and budget. If you have any questions or would like to discuss pricing in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

It includes BLE nodes deployed at the site, a cloud-based server, an API for integration, and an online dashboard for site management.

What is a BLE tag?

A BLE tag is a small, wireless device that broadcasts signals that can be detected by nearby devices, such as smartphones or other Bluetooth-enabled devices. These tags can be carried by people or attached to assets and are used with the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker to provide indoor positioning and tracking capabilities.

What is the accuracy of the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker?

The average accuracy of the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker is 3 meters or 10 feet. We prefer to speak about “room-level accuracy”, meaning that this technology can tell you, with a high level of confidence, if a tag is inside or outside a defined room. It is also to be noticed that usually it is not needed a sub-meter accuracy: if you are tracking a doctor, for example, you only need to know in which room of the hospital he/she is, you do not really need to know on which side of the room.

What is a geo-fence?

A geo-fence is a virtual perimeter around a physical location. The Bluetooth Beacon Tracker can be used to create geo-fences that trigger notifications or assets or employees enter specific areas of the location.

What is a heat map?

A heat map is a visual representation of the density of data points in a specific area. In the context of the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker, heat maps can be used to visualize the movement patterns of assets or employees in a particular location, over a specific period of time.

How is the Bluetooth Beacon Tracker installed?

The Bluetooth Beacon Tracker requires BLE nodes to be plugged into regular power outlets throughout the venue, connected to a local Wi-Fi system, and marked on floor plans in the online dashboard.
